Yakov Osipovvich Svirsky
Yakov Osipovvich Svirsky was born in 1902 in Petrozavodsk. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in 1927. His major works in St. Petersburg include the Textile Institute on the corner of Herzen Street and Kirpichniy Lane (1930), the Museum of the Botanical Garden (1938-1930), and the Sports complex “Dynamo” on Krestovsky Island. He also designed prominent buildings in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Sverdlovsk, Sochi, and other Russian cities. He died in 1990.
