Lazar Markovich Khidekel
Lazar Markovich Khidekel was born in 1904 in Vitebsk. In 1918, he entered the Vitebsk School of Art to study under Marc Chagall and Mstislav Dobuzhinsky. He graduated in 1922 and began his studies at the Institute of Civil Engineers, where he studied until 1929. Khidekel is famous for his Suprematist architectural work. He considered himself to be an artist as well as an architect. He worked as head of the Lenproekt workshop in 1934 and taught at the Institute of Civil Engineers. He died in 1986 in Leningrad.
