Aron Solomonovich Getskin

Aron Solomonovich Getskin was born in 1917 in Ufa. In 1932 his family moved to Leningrad and he began his studies at school No. 103 of the Smolinsky district. He demonstrated great drawing abilities in school and was appointed chairman of the school’s fine arts club. He studied under several prominent Soviet architects, including Noi Abramovich Trotsky, at the Leningrad Institute of Industrial Construction Engineers. He majored in architecture and graduated in 1939 with honors. He served in the Navy after his graduation and was awarded the Order of the Red Star in 1945 for his exemplary performance. He returned to Leningrad to work at Lenmetroproekt in 1948, where he participated in designing about 30 metro facilities. He was at the forefront of the design of the Leningrad Metro and specialized in ground lobbies. He died in 1994 in St. Petersburg.
